Marriage and Couples Counseling

Marriage and couples counseling at The Mountain helps partners slow down difficult patterns, communicate more clearly, and work toward trust, responsibility, forgiveness, and connection through a Christ-centered pastoral approach.

When the same conflict keeps returning

Many couples arrive feeling stuck in a familiar loop: one person presses, the other withdraws, and both leave feeling unheard. Other couples are navigating a transition, broken trust, parenting pressure, or emotional distance.

Pastoral counseling creates structure for conversations that are difficult to manage alone. The counselor does not choose a winner. The work focuses on understanding the pattern, naming each person's responsibility, and practicing healthier ways to respond.

A biblical view of commitment and repair

The Mountain approaches marriage with respect for Christian covenant, truth, grace, repentance, and forgiveness. Those values are not used to excuse harm or silence a partner. Safety, honesty, and appropriate boundaries matter.

If coercion, violence, or immediate safety concerns are present, joint counseling may not be the right first step. Tell the team during the private consultation so they can help identify an appropriate direction.

Questions about marriage and couples counseling

Do both partners need to be Christians?

No, but both partners should understand that the counseling approach is based on a Christian worldview.

Can one partner begin alone?

Yes. The free consultation can help determine whether to begin individually or together based on the circumstances and goals.

Do you offer remote appointments for couples?

Phone and Google Meet options may be available as long as both partners are physically resident in the state of Georgia. We prefer the first session to be in person because it improves the counseling relationship.
